why Quartzen

The way we approach each watch.

Patient, unhurried work

No job is rushed past the point of care. Turnaround estimates are honest, not optimistic.

Written condition records

Every service above battery level produces a written report noting what was found, what was done, and any observations worth keeping.

Parts sourced with care

For vintage work, we look for period-correct components rather than modern substitutes that would alter the character of the piece.

Clear communication

We explain what is needed before starting. If anything unexpected surfaces during the work, we contact you before proceeding.

Respect for original patina

Older pieces are not polished to a showroom finish unless that is specifically requested. Wear and character are part of the object's story.

Local, accessible workshop

Walk in on Damnoen Kasem Road in Hua Hin. Drop off in person, discuss the piece face to face, and collect when ready.

common questions

Questions about the workshop

How do I bring in my watch?
Walk into our workshop at 94 Damnoen Kasem Road during opening hours. No appointment is needed for a drop-off, though a short message in advance helps if you're planning to discuss a restoration project. We'll examine the piece while you wait or get back to you with an assessment within a day.
Can I send my watch by post or courier?
Yes. Use a padded, rigid box and a tracked courier service. Contact us before sending so we can confirm we're available to receive it and agree on the return shipping arrangement. We are not responsible for damage or loss during transit not arranged through us.
How long does a mechanical movement service take?
A full movement service — strip-down, clean, lubrication, reassembly, and multi-day timing observation — typically takes two to four weeks. The timing observation period alone takes several days, so there is no shortcut that does not compromise the result.
What happens if unexpected work is needed mid-service?
We stop and contact you. We do not proceed with work or costs beyond the agreed scope without your approval. This matters particularly on older movements, where wear or damage not visible before opening can change the picture.
My watch belonged to a family member. Will restoration affect its value?
This is exactly the kind of conversation we want to have before any work begins. Original patina and unpolished surfaces often carry both sentimental and collector value. We approach vintage pieces conservatively — preserving what is there rather than refinishing for appearance. We can walk through the trade-offs with you.
Are the listed prices fixed?
The published prices are starting points for standard work within each service category. Unusually complex movements, heavily worn parts, or hard-to-source components may affect the final cost. We discuss this upfront, so nothing comes as a surprise at collection.
